Five things I’ve learned this week…

Life is about always learning. This week, I’ve learned a lot. I thought I’d take a minute to share them with you.

On Monday, I learned that my mom and I can do silly and fun things together, share laughs, and enjoy a day in the car driving for four hours. — And of course enjoy a moment of “wildlife in the big city.”

I also learned that sometimes you have to put yourself out there, ask for what you want, and maybe you’ll get told “no.”  But, *sometimes* you get exactly what it is you want – and those are the times you get to do the Snoopy Dance.

On Tuesday, I learned that “I’m not receiving” is sometimes not only a good boundary, but also a great way to get a mental health break (and a way to get something productive done!)

On Wednesday, I was reminded (again) that I should never, ever try to do something “easy” when I’m overtired, have had no sleep, and already doing a dreaded task!  – As you can probably see, I got a new header on my website/blog.  BookGraphics did a FABULOUS job for me on this and I am THRILLED with it.  I was so excited, I dropped everything and tried to update my site.  1.  I loathe web work.  2.  I don’t think well when I’m overtired. — So, as you can see, the ‘just put the header on’ was an *epic fail*.  After many hours of wrestling with it – I got it “functional, but not right.”   So now, hopefully this weekend, I have to *RE*do everything – but maybe this time I’ll put some of what I learned to use and do it the smart way.

On Thursday I learned that sometimes you have to bend your boundaries to do the *right* thing just because its the right thing.  You don’t have to like it, and you might have a really good reason not to, but maybe there’s a time to put aside the good reason and, like the Nike ad department says “Just Do It.”

Today?  Today I learned that the old saying is really true, “quieter words have greater power.”  Sometimes saying nothing at all has greater power than screaming at the top of your lungs.

So, what lessons did you learn this week?  What pearls of wisdom do you have to share?
