So many people complain about Monday. Pop culture even supports these disgruntled masses (who doesn’t think “Manic Monday” right off the bat?) Some great alliterative branding and a catchy beat shot Bangles to the top of the charts talking about this very topic.
[Have you singing it now, don't I?]
Why is this? Why are there so many Monday haters? How did Monday become the red-headed step-child of the days of the week? Doesn’t Monday deserve some love too?
Mondays are, admittedly, not my favorite days of the month. Yes, often times they’re riddled with snafus and attempts to derail my progress. But, I find these moments pop up more often when I *think* about it being a “Manic Monday.” If I forget that its Monday, the day does seem to go much smoother.
Solution? I’m reclaiming Mondays! Monday is now *my* day. Monday is the day I get to set new goals and begin again with a fresh new slate. Like getting a New Year’s Day each week. How’s *that* for tricking your own brain??
Now, each week, instead of getting up and saying, “Ugh, its a Monday.” I’m waking up to say, “Yes! Its a Monday!” I’m filling up my Contigo Autoseal mug with tea and I’m going to hit the week running. I’ll set writing goals for the week. I’ll ponder new plot and character ideas. I’ll face the mysteries of Monday head on and with much enthusiasm. Everything is fair game as long as its positive! I’ll also leave you a new kind of game at the end of each post – Monday Mystery.
Each Monday I’ll also ask something about myself that happened over the weekend. Do you follow me on Twitter and Facebook? If not, what are you waiting for? The answers will be something I Tweeted or posted to FB about over the weekend.
What about you?: Do you wake up on Monday ready to face the week or pull the covers over your head and groan? How do you make your Monday more like a Friday?
Monday Mystery: Leave me a comment and tell me what “big change” you think I made this weekend. (Hint: Its something that will change the way people see me.)
Hi Beth-Ann! Mondays for are about new beginnings. On Sunday, I usually reflect on the week that was and plan on making Monday the beginning of something new I can create or discover. Actually Thurs is the day for me that feels more like a Monday! As far as your big change, this is my first visit to your blog so I’m guessing that maybe you cut your hair???
Hi Tameka! Welcome to my Whirlwind Wonderland! Thank you for stopping by. Yes, I really do enjoy Mondays too. Its like seeing a piece of paper before the first mark is made. So refreshing and so full of potential! My Thursdays are usually insanely chaotic, but they are my ‘soul check’ days since I volunteer at the local food pantry all day.
As for my big change… you’re close! No cut this time, but a new color! Nothing like a fresh new hue to start the new week off right.
I hope you’ll come back often and share more comments. I look forward to getting to know you.
